Cambridge City L2s 0 Old Loughtonians L1s 3

Despite the freezing temperatures, gale force winds and driving rain, Old Loughtonians Ladies 1s produced a dominant display to claim all 3 points away in Cambridge to remain in contention in the East premier league.

Sisters Faye & Emily Holmes combined superbly within 2 minutes as Emily gave Loughts an early lead.

Within 10 minutes it was 2-0 as Tash Patient surged forward and found Emily Holmes who finished with aplomb for her second of the game.

The result was effectively assured on 26 minutes when a slick penalty corner routine fell to Lucy Price who made no mistake from close range.
Loughts controlled most of the play in the second half and came close to extending their lead further.

Special mention to Player of the Match Chelsey Toms who controlled the midfield throughout.
It was a very good day for Loughts ladies as all four teams in action won well.

The L2s won 3-0 at home to Southend & Benfleet 1s with a goal from Anya Pitt followed by two from Georgia Dawes. They remain in 2nd. The L3s won 4-1 against second placed Waltham Forest 2s. Alannah Foskett (2), Rachel Paddon and Anna Dingle scored the goals and stand in keeper Jane Blake had an outstanding day in goal. They stay 4th just 3 points behind the leaders. The L4s are still top after a 1-0 win away against Brentwood 4s. Akhila Natarajan scored the only goal.

The men’s sides had a mixed day. The M2s (and your club reporter) braved the elements in the late start and won 7-1 against Shefford and Sandy 1s with goals from Josh Beardwell (2), Matt Lewis (2), Archie Crowley, Ollie Davis and Rahul Karri. The M2s are now 3 points clear after 2nd placed Bishop Stortford 1s lost to 3rd placed St. Alban’s 2s.

he M3s Foresters went one better beating Chelmsford 3s by 8-1 away at Beehive Lane despite going down to 9 men. They remain 3rd.

The M4s Academy away at Brentwood 3s won 3-0 but the M5s Loppers lost 3-0 to Havering 3s. The M6s Willows continued their 100% winning record with a 12-1 win over Witham Academy but the other Willows teams did not fare as well. The M7s Willows Woodsmen lost 2-1 to Brentwood 5s but remain 3rd, the M8s Willows lost to local rivals Crostyx 4s and the M9s showed “true grit” and teamwork in the face of adversity eventually losing 8-1 away to Saffron Walden 7s. The Supervets lost 4-2 to Spencer but remain top of their league.
