• Promote the reputation of Hockey and take all possible steps to prevent it from being brought into disrepute.
• Accept success and failure, victory and defeat, with equal dignity.
• Remember that people learn best by example, set a positive example for others, particularly young participants and spectators.
• Appreciate good performances and skilful play by all participants.

• Protect others involved in the game from verbal or physical abuse and threatening or intimidating behaviour. In extreme cases captains and managers should feel empowered to remove their team from the field of play if they are concerned for players' physical or mental well being.
• Encourage people always to settle disagreements amicably without resorting to hostility or violence.
• Respect the umpires and accept decisions without question; the only player to approach an umpire should be the captain
• Conduct themselves in a manner that takes all reasonable measures to protect their own safety and the safety of others.
• Never participate when under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Take personal responsibility to ensure that they and their dependents are suitably insured for the activities.
