About the Club 1 of 5

1. Clubmark accredited

1. Clubmark

We are delighted to announce that the Club has received its Clubmark reaccreditation from England Hockey.    Please follow this link to the England Hockey website for details of the Clubmark scheme.

The Club first received its Clubmark accreditation on 12th February 2019. Each accreditation lasts for three years.
We are one of a limited number of clubs in the country who have so far achieved this accreditation.

 2. Development Plan

As part of the original process in 2018 we implemented a new ambitious five year development plan.

The Club's five year Development Plan reflects both the ethos and aspirations of the Club as it approaches its centenary year and addresses the aims and challenges identified.

The Development Plan (incorporating a SWOT Analysis and supported by a rolling Action Plan) is intended to be an evolving document and the members of the management committee would welcome ongoing feedback on the plan itself and its implementation. Both were updated in 2021.

The Club is the combination of all of its members and relies on the invaluable  contributions of all of its volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer to help in any way please let any member of the management committee know.

The key elements of the updated Development Plan are as follows.

Ambition

Promotion for the M1s into the new South Division of the National League and ultimately back into the Premier League.

Consolidation for the W1s followed by promotion back into the National League which has been achieved.

Continued Success

Building on the success of the Club's Colt and Mini sections and continuing  to contest and win County, Regional and National competitions both indoors and outdoors.

A Club for all

Continuing to cater for hockey for all age groups from Minis to Supervets and for all standards from beginner and Back to Hockey to elite National League.

A Club with a home

Continuing to be a Club with a home and to provide members with the excellent facilities we enjoy at Luxborough Lane and a Club of members working for each other for the long term rather than a business offering its wares to those shopping for what they can get rather than what they can contribute.

Fund for the future

Investing towards the future by creating a fighting fund to cover the anticipated costs of replacing and renovating pitches, floodlights and other facilities.

Welcome home

Seeking to find additional financial support to cover ongoing and anticipated costs, fund top quality coaching and to enable the Club to entice back its returning talent and new recruits.

3. Succession planning and implementation

The 2020/21 season was the club’s centenary year. We planned to use that season to celebrate the success of the club and to help further the development plan aims.

Within the next  6 to 8 years we will need to replace our pitches and infrastructure and as part of the plan we will be setting up a dedicated fund raising team tasked with raising the funds we will need over that period.  More on that to follow.

We amended the Development Plan further to include the aspiration to be accredited as a Talent Centre and Talent Academy. The club now runs its Talent Academy.

If anyone has any questions relating to this excellent affirmation of the quality of the Club (which in practice means the quality of the people who make the Club what it is) please let us know.
