A good, close game this week against Chelmsford 5s and one in which we were in the lead until the 65th minute.
Lots of action at both ends (and in the middle) as we attempted to keep hands from freezing. A left slip from a short corner trap saw Susy slot in a nifty goal after 27 minutes.
Our second goal, early in the second half, was a vision of beauty. It went right from our defensive end, in a series of diagonal passes - Jane to Tess to Susy to ??? to Holly to Liv, who made the finishing touch into goal - without being touched by the opposition. Soooo satisfying.
Chelmsford also had quite a strong, nippy team, so we had to work hard for our successes and Abi, in goal, was called on to make a fair few saves in both halves.
Towards the end of the match we had a tired few minutes and conceded two goals. The first of these was an exceedingly well taken short corner, a deflection only centimetres inside the left post - nothing much we could do there. The second was a bit more messy, catching us in some disarray in midfield and defence - a shame because our defence had been very solid and disciplined for the majority of the game.
Our MoM votes were spread about a bit, but Abi came out the clear winner for her many solid saves in goal. (We did have a fair few shots at the other end but their goalie was pretty good too.)
An interesting teas in the clubhouse - I won't go into detail but I must remember to be less honest when a cook asks me if I enjoyed their food and if not, why not.
Very well played everyone.
